Things to Remember:

  1. This should be fun, not a chore!
  2. It is with repetition, not competition that students will develop fluency.
  3. Students should say the entire fact, not just the answer.
  4. It should take no more than 3-5 minutes.
  5. There should be no more than 10-15 facts in a set.
  6. There should be a mix of new and old facts in each practice set.
  7. Facts should be taught in clusters, not as isolated pieces of information.
  8. Students should practice at school AND at home DAILY.
  9. Students should have the opportunity to correct mistakes and learn the correct response...no opt out.
  10. It is imperative that students do not feel singled out or punished for incorrect responses.
